MACCE Announcements

MACCE is now seeking volunteers for Chamber execs of MACCE members to serve on the MD Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs Committee. The committee meets at the MD Chamber's office in Annapolis on Mondays at 3:00 p.m. during the legislative session. In-person attendance is required. Four spots on the committee are reserved for MACCE and we need to submit recommendations to the MD Chamber by mid-September. If you are interested in serving, please email me (nicole@garrettchamber.com), MACCE President, by September 6.

I am sad to report that two Chamber execs have resigned their positions at their local chambers - Bob Carpenter, President/CEO of the Calvert County Chamber effective August 31 and Yousuf Ahmad, CEO of the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber. We wish them great success on their next endeavors.

On a brighter note, I am pleased to welcome Beth Rheingold, the new Executive Director of the Pikesville-Owings Mill Chamber of Commerce. She comes to us from CHAI Community and Housing Assistance, where she was the Director of School annd Community Engagement. We also welcome Beth Nowell as the new CEO of the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber, where she most recently served as the Business Development Director.  I know you will join me in welcoming them both.

If you have news to share about your chamber (staff changes, awards, new program launch, etc.), please share it under the "News" tab on the MACCE website at MACCE News / Articles. However, please do not submit all of your upcoming events (i.e. business after hours, business before hours, seminars).

Reminder to register for the upcoming MACCE meeting for CEOs only on Thursday, September 26 and Volunteer Leadership on Friday, September 27 focusing on Board Governance and Sustainability. The meetings will be held at the Calhoon MEBA Engineering School in Easton. The CEOs only and volunteer leadership meetings are always chock full of great content, and our volunteer leadership are continually in need of training and reminders about the role of the CEO vs. the Board. I encourage you to attend and bring your chair, vice chair, chair elect and/or your entire board. Register now at MACCE September Meeting: Board Governance and Sustainability for CEOs and Volunteer Leaders - 9/26/2019. We have to give a final headcount by September 16th, so please register EARLY!

Thanks and I hope all of you had a wonderful summer.

Nicole Christian, CCE, IOM, President & CEO of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce

2019 MACCE President
