POSITION OVERVIEW: Are you a service-oriented events management professional who is looking for new challenges and recognition? Are you ready to contribute to a team with an enormous upside? If so, then we want to talk to you about a position with Howard County Chamber!

 

The Howard County Chamber seeks a bright, experienced, motivated, and energetic rock star to become our Director of Events & Programs. This is a senior management position that answers directly to the Chamber President and requires extreme organization, an entrepreneurial-spirit, dedication, flexibility, and tolerance for the day-to-day adventures that accompany a non-profit with limited support staff.

This person should be a leader who is equal parts creative visionary and effective project executor. We want a self-starter who is experienced at creating AND executing events, and who is ready to put her/his own mark on this position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceptualize and execute a wide range of Chamber programs, from small meetings to premier events and conferences,
  • Enhance and introduce new programs for the Chamber members and the larger entrepreneurial community by supporting creative development and audience marketing,
  • Serve as project director for each assigned program on-site and off-site,
  • Lead project-wide deliverable management, day-to-day communications across stakeholders, and day-of execution; manage logistics of vendor and venue management,
  • Contribute to the development of program content through consulting on program format, multimedia extensions, and topic and speaker identification, and
  • Meet or exceed budgetary goals through budget oversight, strong negotiations, and creative cost-efficacy measures.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who has existing relationships with area businesses, non-profits, and food professionals. S/he must be able to multi-task, work flexible hours and wear many hats. A bachelor’s degree (Preferred) in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or related field with 4+ years relevant event experience.
