Topics to be covered include:

Board responsibilities, fiduciary duties, staff vs board roles and responsibilities, and key governing documents;
Board members’ role in maintaining and growing a sustainable organization;
Pitfalls of executive committees, executive sessions, and electronic voting and how to avoid them;
Risk management concerns, including antitrust and conflict of interest policies; and
Strategies for building better boards and committees.

Cost:  $75 per person – members only (CEO, staff and volunteer leaders) –includes continental breakfast, refreshments and lunch.

Accommodations on Thursday Evening:  20 rooms are being held at the Hilton Garden Inn until Monday, August 16.  The rooms will be released on 8/17. Special cost for one night - $149 (normally $220). Call 410-827-3877 and request a room in the MACCE block.  Attendees on Thursday evening will meet at 7pm in the lobby to go to dinner nearby together (on the water)- Dutch treat.

About Louder NonProfit Strategies

Claire Louder formed Louder NonProfit Strategies, LLC after 28 years in the chamber and association industry with the goal of providing affordable strategic planning and benchmarking services to small and midsized chambers, associations, and nonprofits. She has a passion for helping organizations succeed through establishing strategic direction and adopting industry best practices. Her years of leadership and involvement in the industry have resulted in a knowledge of industry best practices and resources that she brings to the table in helping client organizations achieve their goals.

Claire is a 2009 graduate of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management (Northeast, though she started at Southeast), a Certified Association Executive (CAE), and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Executive’s 2012 Chamber Executive of the Year. She also holds a Master of Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government (1989). She currently teaches several classes for the US Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management, primarily in governance and strategic planning.
