MACCE September Program: Good Governance: What Every Board Leader Should Know

Looking for a way to educate your board leadership about their responsibilities as chamber board members? Take advantage of MACCE’s September Program – bring your board leaders for an orientation to chamber best practices in board governance.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Board responsibilities, fiduciary duties, staff vs board roles and responsibilities, and key governing documents;
  • Board members’ role in maintaining and growing a sustainable organization;
  • Pitfalls of executive committees, executive sessions, and electronic voting and how to avoid them;
  • Risk management concerns, including antitrust and conflict of interest policies; and
  • Strategies for building better boards and committees.
Our Presenters

Claire Louder, CAE, IOM, MPP of Louder NonProfit Strategies, formerly CEO of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, will be presenting. She will be joined by special guest presenter Michael Gellman, CPA, CGMA, of Fiscal Strategies 4 Nonprofits (formerly of Rubino & Company) will address the board’s role in fiscal management and sustainability.
